WHY IS SLEEP IMPORTANT?

Lack of sleep can be caused by emotional troubles, such as feelings of sadness and depression. Sleep helps keep us physically healthy but when someone is not getting enough of it there bounds to be problems such as headaches, weakness, inactiveness and the likes. These could slow down responses and concentration. We all need to sleep for at least 8 hours on daily basis to enhance good performance of every of our activities and also to be healthy.

Signs that you are not getting enough sleep
• feelings of depression
• Struggling to wake up from bed in the morning
• inability to concentrate during the day
• falling asleep during the day•

How To Get More Sleep?
Relax your mind. Avoid horror, scary, television shows right before bed

• Exercise regularly. Do not exercise right before bed, it can make it harder to fall asleep, exercising 5 or 6 hours before bedtime (in late afternoon) may help you sleep very well.

• Set a regular bedtime. When your body get used to going to bed at the same time each night and waking up at the same time every day make your body to be in control and to establish sleep patterns. So try to stick to your sleep schedule even on weekends.

• Avoid drinking beverages with caffeine, such as soda and coffee, after 4 PM. Smoking and drinking alcohol in the evening can also affect your sleep in the night.

• Avoid stimulants. Drinking alcohol in the evening can make you restless and wake up during the night.

• Right sleeping environment. Human beings tends to sleep best in a dark room that is slightly on the cool side. Lots of noise can be a sleep turnoff, too.

• Wake up with bright light. Bright light in the morning signals to your body that it's time to get going.
